Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 5, 2026

Mark Roberts Consulting respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over it.

Who we are

Mark Roberts Consulting ("MRC", "we", "us") is a digital consulting business based on BC's Sunshine Coast in Canada, owned and operated by Mark Roberts. This policy applies to information collected through markroberts.io and through any direct interactions you have with us by email, phone, or video call.

For privacy questions or requests, contact mark@markroberts.io.

What we collect

Information you give us directly. When you book a diagnostic call, fill in a contact form, or email us, we collect the information you choose to share — typically your name, email address, phone number, business name, and a brief description of what you're looking for help with. If we begin a working relationship, we may collect additional information needed to deliver the work (for example, access details for your website, ad account, or CRM), which is stored only as long as needed and revoked when no longer required.

Information collected automatically. When you visit markroberts.io, our hosting provider and analytics tools record standard technical information: your IP address, browser type and version, device type, the pages you view, the time and date of your visit, and the referring page. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand site usage in aggregate. If you arrive at our site by clicking a Google or Meta advertisement, those platforms may set cookies that allow us to measure conversion performance.

We do not sell your information, rent it, or share it with data brokers.

How we use it

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and schedule a discovery call.
  • Send you proposals, contracts, and invoices if we agree to work together.
  • Deliver the services you've engaged us for.
  • Improve our website and understand which marketing channels are working.
  • Comply with applicable law (including tax and contract record-keeping requirements).

We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you, build behavioural profiles for unrelated marketing, or send you bulk email you didn't ask for.

Cookies and tracking

markroberts.io uses cookies and similar technologies for two purposes:

  1. Analytics — Google Analytics 4 helps us understand which pages people visit and how visitors arrive at the site.
  2. Advertising measurement — when our Google Ads or Meta campaigns are running, conversion tracking cookies measure whether ad clicks led to enquiries.

Most browsers let you disable cookies through their settings. Doing so will not break the site, but it may prevent our analytics from accurately measuring your visit.

Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run the business, and only to the extent needed for them to do their job:

  • Google Workspace — email, calendar, document storage
  • Google Analytics and Google Ads — analytics and advertising measurement
  • GoHighLevel — CRM and call booking
  • Netlify — website hosting
  • Cloudflare — DNS and content delivery
  • Notion — internal documentation
  • Contractors working under signed confidentiality agreements who support specific client engagements

These providers are bound by their own privacy and security obligations. Some of them are based outside Canada (primarily in the United States), which means your information may be processed and stored outside of Canada. By using our website or engaging us, you consent to that transfer.

We will not share your information for any purpose not described in this policy without your consent, except where required by law (for example, in response to a valid court order or regulatory request).

How long we keep it

  • Enquiry data from people who do not become clients: up to 24 months, then deleted.
  • Client records: kept for the duration of the engagement plus 7 years to satisfy Canadian tax and contract record-keeping requirements.
  • Analytics data: retained per Google Analytics' default settings (currently 14 months) and aggregated thereafter.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law — the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) — you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you.
  • Request a copy of that information.
  • Ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Withdraw your consent and ask us to delete information we no longer need to retain.

To exercise any of these rights, email mark@markroberts.io. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are a California resident, you have similar rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information has been collected about you, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (which we do not engage in).

If you believe we have mishandled your information and we cannot resolve your concern directly, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca).

Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect personal information: HTTPS encryption in transit, encrypted storage with our service providers, multi-factor authentication on accounts that hold personal data, and access controls that limit information to the people who need it for their work. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your data with the same care we'd want for our own.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for business audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information to us, please contact mark@markroberts.io and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage or communicated by direct notice if we have your email address.
