This project was particularly significant to me because it allowed us to transform a rather generic and uninspiring theme into something truly captivating and visually engaging.

Lady Rose Marine is the name of a commercial ferry operating between Bamfield and Port Alberni on Vancouver Island. The website provides comprehensive information about the ship and its journey, including ticket purchasing details, sightseeing opportunities, information about the various ports, and even the menu for the onboard restaurant.

For this site, I thought I’d try using a block theme, which is a modern approach to WordPress design and development that allows for greater flexibility and customization. After researching various options, I decided to take the Ollie theme for a spin. This theme is known for its clean lines, user-friendly interface, and adaptability to different types of content, making it an ideal choice for a hair salon's website. I spent time customizing the theme to align with the salon's brand identity, incorporating vibrant colours and elegant typography to reflect the salon's aesthetic. I am pleased with the design of the site, as it effectively showcases the salon's services and portfolio. Additionally, it is performing exceptionally well in terms of search engine optimization (SEO), which is crucial for attracting new clients and maintaining a strong online presence. The site's fast loading times and mobile responsiveness have contributed to its high ranking on search engines, further enhancing its visibility and accessibility to potential customers.
The site integrates nicely with the Square Point-of-Sale system.
This is a custom website that I coded from the ground up, based on a design by the talented Kristin Church. Rembrandt Renovations, a reputable and well-established company based in Vancouver, specializes in comprehensive whole-home renovations. They boast an impressive and visually stunning portfolio that highlights their exceptional work through captivating and high-quality photography. The website serves as a comprehensive resource, offering detailed information about the company, an overview of the wide range of services they provide, a portfolio that showcases a variety of their past projects, and a user-friendly contact form for potential clients to easily reach out and connect with them.
The site is built entirely using Advanced Custom Fields on top of the Understrap Theme Framework. Using best practices, I was able to achieve very good performance scores on Google PageSpeed Insights. Technical SEO health was also a priority during the development of this site.

This website employs e-commerce functionality via WooCommerce as well as online learning components using LearnDash. The theme is a highly-customized child theme variation of the BuddyBoss theme and employs extensive member functionality facilitated by the Advanced Custom Fields and Paid Memberships Pro plugins.

I have worked on two different iterations of the BLBCA site, each presenting its own unique challenges and learning opportunities. The current version of the site was initially constructed by another agency, which employed a multitude of plugins and page-builder to create a visually appealing and functional website. However, this approach led to several issues, including slower loading times and increased maintenance complexity. As a result, the site owner approached me to undertake the task of rebuilding the site from the ground up using plain code. This decision was made to enhance the site's performance by optimizing it for speed, ensuring faster load times and a smoother user experience. Additionally, by reducing the site's reliance on numerous plugins, we aimed to simplify its structure, making it more stable and easier to manage in the long run.
The site was built with a child theme of WordPress Twenty Twenty. It relies heavily on the Advanced Custom Fields, Facet WP and BB Press plugins.
